Directions:
From Lexington: Take Exit 35 off I-64 and turn right. Go approximately two miles to a stoplight at the intersection by McDonalds and turn left. You will be on Washington Street, the courthouse is at Fifth and Washington (back entrance). From Louisville: Take Exit 32-B, and this will take you north on Highway 55. Go approximately two miles and turn right on U.S. 60 (which is also Shelbyville Road and runs into Main Street). Go two miles downtown to Fifth Street and the courthouse is on the left.

Parking:
There are no meters in Shelbyville, but there is a two hour parking limit. There are two public lots within one block of the courthouse.

Information for Patrons with Special Needs:
The side entrance of the courthouse is handicapped accessible and enters the basement where an elevator is located. You must see Sheriff in basement for access to Circuit Courtroom on 2nd Floor.

Circuit Civil Motion Hour: Two days each month, first full week of the month on Wednesday, and on Wednesday two weeks thereafter, at 9 a.m. Criminal Motion Hour: First and third Monday of each month at 8:30 a.m. Family Court or District Court - call for dates/times.

A Resident Hispanic Interpreter is available.

Test Information:
Road tests are given in the morning on Monday and Tuesday. Call 502-633-1287 on or after the eligibility date for an appointment. Parents must call to make the appointment.

Written tests are given on Monday and Tuesday from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Motorcycle road test is given on Monday only. Call for an appointment.

CDL applicants must be present by 1:30 p.m. to begin test.

U.S. Citizens will need the following to apply for a permit:
1. Certified copy of birth certificate.
2. Original social security card
3. Parent or guardian signature (grandparents or step-parents can not sign)
4. Verification of school enrollment (under 18)

We accept reinstatement fees (cash or money order). We are not allowed to accept traffic school enrollment fees.
