Divorce Education Programs

Families In Transition (F.I.T) - required
FIT FAQs

For persons filing for divorce in Kenton County who have children from birth to age 18, the parties must attend the Families in Transitions (FIT) Program. If the children are between the ages of 5 and 16 both the parties and children must attend the FIT program. All parties must complete the program within 90 days after the Petition for Dissolution is filed. The family must complete this program before a final decree of divorce is entered and granted.

The parties in a divorce proceeding do not attend the program together. One parent attends the program with the child(ren). The other parent attends the program alone. The child(ren) attend a separate program at the same time the parent is attending his or her program. The parent programs are identical. There is no special consideration given to the parent, in regards to their divorce, if they choose to take the child(ren).

There is a $50.00 fee per parent to attend the FIT program. Each parent is responsible for their fee. There is no additional cost for the children's program. The fee is to be paid to the facilitator/facilities.

Note: If you have questions regarding the FIT program, please contact Heather Secrist Family Court Case Specialist (859) 292-6533.
