Judge Combs receives KBA's Outstanding Judge Award
Kentucky Court of Appeals Judge Sara Walter Combs received the 2010 Outstanding Judge Award during the Kentucky Bar Association’s annual banquet held as a part of its convention June 18-20 in Lexington. She was recognized for her history-making role as the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court of Kentucky. She was also the first woman to be chief judge of the Kentucky Court of Appeals, a role in which she served from June 2004 to May 2010. She has been a Court of Appeals judge since 1994.
Union College presented Kentucky Court of Appeals Chief Judge Sara Walter Combs with an honorary doctor of laws degree May 5 in Barbourville. Judge Combs addressed the 2007 graduating class of the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law on May 12.
