Tween Time
Tween Time is designed to provide a sense of security, awareness and understanding as a beginning point for children learning to cope with dual parenting in separate households.
The program, for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade children, helps them understand the stress they are feeling and teaches healthy methods to deal with separation and divorce. The program last approximately two (2) hours and is held at the same time as the Parents Education Clinic, but in a different room. Tween Time is not always available.
Tween Time helps children begin to understand their own feelings and to seek out people who can help them cope during this stressful time. In addition, the program provides children with an understanding of the emotional roller coaster often associated with separation and divorce.
After completing the program, children should be able to:
- Recognize their feelings as normal
- Talk about their emotions and learn coping strategies
- Articulate what they want their parents to know.
