Overview |
 |
The Kentucky Court of Justice invites you and your students to participate in a truly exciting educational experience- the annual Kentucky High School Mock Trial Tournament. The Mock Trial Tournament is recognized as one of the best law-related education programs in the state. More than 10,500 students, 1,200 judges and 1,000 attorneys have participated in the program since it began.
The Mock Trial tournament trains high school students to interpret facts presented in civil and criminal cases. After a semester of practice students take part in a mock trial competition where they prepare a court case under the supervision of teachers and attorney coaches. The program, which is conducted in the second half of the school year kicks off with regional competitions and culminates with a state championship competition that takes place at the Kentucky Supreme Court chambers at the Capitol in Frankfort. To participate, there is a registration fee of $125.00 made payable to the Kentucky State Treasurer. Registration is in the early fall, at the beginning of the school year. Each year, all of the local high schools should receive a mock trial brochure.
